'Viveka Murasu' is a Village Awareness Programme conceived by Sri Ramakrishna Math, Mylapore, Chennai, to create an awareness among the villagers of their innate abilities. The programme aims to:
Create self-confidence and social unity to the village youth for self-development through its Personality Development oriented programmes.
1. Create self-employment opportunities among the villagers through vocational training programmes.
2. Spread the life giving and character building message of Sri Ramakrishna, Holy Mother Sri Sarada Devi and Swami Vivekananda through, film shows, literature and exhibitions.
3. A team of five members of the math are going around villages of Tamil Nadu in a well equipped mobile van for implementing the above village awareness programmes with the cooperation of the local youth and elders.
The mobile van is taken to different villages during the first and the thrid week of each month covering one village each day. The programme in each village is roughly as under.
MORNING:
Welcoming and garlanding the Statue of Swami Vivekananda.
Procession through the streets of the village.
Inauguration of 'Self-development' programme ( In a school building, if possible).
CD show on 'Self-Development' and talk, for students in higher classes.
AFTERNOON:
CD show on 'Self-development' and talk, for primary and middle section students.
EVENING:
Public Meeting in a prominent place in the village. Self-employment opportunities-Practical tips.
CD show on the Life and Teachings of Sri Ramakrishna, Holy Mother Sri Sarada Devi and Swami Vivekananda.
Spiritual books play a vital role in imparting secular and moral values. Highly subsidized publications of the Math are displayed and sold.
There is no gainsaying the fact that the life and the universal teachings of Sri Ramakrishna, Holy Mother Sri Sarada Devi and Swami Vivekananda will inspire us to improve the quality of our lives. Picture exhibition on the life and teachings of the Holy Trinity is open throught the day in every village.
'Viveka Murasu' Village Awareness Programme gives an opportunity to the villagers for self-development and thus to improve the quality of their lives.
