Sri Ramakrishna Math is a place of pilgrimage, situated at Mylapore in Chennai. Commissioned by Swami Vivekananda, this Math was started by Swami Ramakrishnananda, a direct disciple of Sri Ramakrishna. The Math campus is filled with palpable holiness. Anyone who sits in the temple, even if it is for a few minutes, feels the supreme calmness descend on him. With its lush green surroundings, the Math is a lovely spot for contemplation and meditation.

All are welcome here irrespective of religion, race or nationality.

The Math has a long history of 100 years. It renders service at all levels, viz. spiritual, mental and physical through its various activities. Every activity at the Math, whether it is sweeping the courtyard or teaching in a school or nursing a patient, is considered a form of worship. Through this worship one can evolve spiritually, and simultaneously also be of service to those around us. This is the principle behind the multifarious activities of the Ramakrishna Math and the Ramakrishna Mission, the twin worldwide organizations having their Headquarters at Belur near Calcutta. Sri Ramakrishna Math, Chennai, is their first branch in southern India.
