RELIEF WORK BY RAMAKRISHNA MISSION : A BRIEF REPORT AS ON 1 SEPTEMBER 2002

 Primary Relief:

1. Flood Relief: In the wake of the recent devastating floods in Assam, Bihar and West Bengal, the Headquarters independently and through our centres in Assam, Bihar and West Bengal organized primary relief work among the flood victims by distributing food, blankets and mosquito-nets and providing medical assistance as mentioned below:

2. Andhra Pradesh Fire Relief: Vijayawada centre distributed uncooked food items, utensils, garments, blankets, cots, fishing-nets, etc. to 43 families affected by a ravaging fire at Gurjapulanka village of Mummdivaram Mandalam in East Godavari district last month.

Rehabilitation:

Gujarat Earthquake Rehabilitation: Fifteen newly constructed school buildings were inaugurated and handed over to the authorities last month. The details are given below:

The estimated total cost of the Gujarat Earthquake Rehabilitation Project is nearly Rs. 16.75 crore.

 Other News

1. Students of Rahara college run by our Rahara centre secured 1st and 4th ranks in B.Sc.(General) eamination held by Calcutta University this year.

2. Jammu Ashrama started mobile service on 2 August.

3. Uttar Pradesh Governor Sri Vishnukant Shastri visited Lucknow Math on 9 August and inaugurated a three-day discourse on Ramcharit Manas.

4. Students of Vidyamandira, run by Saradapitha secured the second prize at the State level Youth Parliament Scheme competition Organised by the West Bengal Government on 28 August.
