Five major celebrations are held every year. These are day-long programmes. Thousands of devotees participate and take prasad (Consecrated food).

 1. Bhagavan Sri Ramakrishna Jayanti :

Birthday of Sri Ramakrishna. This is celebrated according to the Visuddha Siddhanta Panchika, an Indian almanac. It falls on Phalguna Shukla Dvitiya, the second day after the new moon day in the month of Phalguna (February-March).

 2. Holy Mother Sri Sarada Devi Jayanti :

Birthday of Sri Sarada Devi. This falls on Marghashirsha Krishna Saptami, 7th day after the full moon day in the month of Marghashirsha (November-December).

 3. Swami Vivekananda Jayanti :

Swami Vivekananda was born on January 12, 1863. This day has been declared as National Youth Day by the Union Government. It is celebrated annually at Vivekanandar Illam in a grand manner.

 5. Kalpataru day :

Kalpataru is a mythological celestial tree. It is supposed to fulfil the wishes of one who stands under it and prays. Sri Ramakrishna, during his last illness, on Jan 1,1886, like a kalpataru, fulfilled the spiritual yearnings of his disciples, granting them spiritual visions and transcendental states. January 1 is celebrated to mark the occasion.
