Realization, Infinite, Supreme,
Above the world, whose region is the Soul,
Where lives Eternal Truth Supreme
As Boundless Freedom, like a shoreless sea,
That hath this sage become
wrote Frank G.Alexander about
Swami Ramakrishnananda,
fondly known as Sasi Maharaj.
Born on July 13, 1863 in the Hooghly District of Bengal, Sasi met Sri Ramakrishna in October 1883. He served the Great Master during the latter's terminal illness with such devotion and meticulousness that Swami Vivekananda decided that Sasi was the worthiest candidate to be named after their Master. It was Swami Ramakrishnananda who formulated the ritualistic worship of Sri Ramakrishna.
At Swami Vivekananda's behest he came over to distant Chennai and lived for fourteen years organizing and propagating the Ramakrishna Movement in the South. He not only founded the Math in Chennai, but was also responsible for spreading the Movement in other parts of South India. Disseminating spiritual knowledge till his last breath, he attained the abode of God on August 21, 1911.
His spirit shines bright and luminous through every activity of the Order in the southern part of India. He was an illumined soul, an original thinker, a great scholar, a persuasive teacher, and a powerful writer.

- We are heroes so long as we struggle.
- If you do anything to make a person happy, no matter what it is, be glad of it. You have done well.
- When we drop our ego from our consciousness and live in God, we have unlimited power.
- My life is eternal. This little life belongs to God. He created it. Let Him do with it what He will.
- If we love God for what we can get from Him in the world, we really love the world, not God, and we can never be true devotees. The true devotee loves God just for the joy of loving Him.
